Love is sure to be in the air at this Italian-inspired restaurant in Miami’s affluent Coral Gables neighborhood, opened by chef Niven Patel. The name Erba, a play on “herbs,” represents the menu’s emphasis on produce sourced from the restaurant’s own local farm, Rancho Patel. And the ruby-red interior design by Miami-based Saladino Design Studios sets a sultry and romantic tone that’s a perfect setting for any date night—from first meeting to popping the question.

Striped banquettes run the full length of the dining room’s central axis, capped by cocooning booths at each end. Their backs feature a repeated color gradient that blends from red to green, while other banquettes against the walls are cloaked entirely in sumptuous claret-hued velvet. Accompanying the intimate booths are custom green marble tabletops with softly rounded shapes that follow the lines of the seat edges, and rest upon reeded walnut and brass bases that offer a visual counterpoint.

Dappled glass panels fill the clerestory windows and sliding doors between the dining area and the private room, where the tessellated diamond-shaped floor tiles are swapped for wooden boards and herringbone brickwork. Cushioned dining chairs throughout the restaurant are wrapped in oxblood-colored leather, and their metal frames are powder-coated to match. Other seats are upholstered in fabric with abstract floral prints, imbuing the space with a boudoir-esque twist.

Cove lights shine discretely from behind the banquettes, while more reflect off the golden ceiling to cast warm light over diners. Glass pendant lamps and a central three-tiered chandelier are embellished with transparent leaves, adding delicate touches to the interiors. It’s hard not to fall head over heels for this new addition to Miami’s ever-expanding dining scene. That’s amore!
The decor across the dining area, bar, chef’s table, and private section is a mix of old-world and contemporary pieces. Walls are adorned with floral-patterned panels, vintage artworks in gilded frames and decorative plates that contrast the contemporary custom dining furniture.
